Practical English for Everyday Life
The Lingo Project helps adults develop practical English skills in a friendly and supportive environment. Our classes focus on real conversations you can use at work,
at home and throughout the Columbus community.
You do not need to speak perfect English to begin. After you register,
our team will help determine the class level that is right for you.

A Supportive, Faith-Based Learning Community
Each two-hour class includes practical English instruction, conversation practice and opportunities to build relationships with teachers and other students.
Classes conclude with a 30-minute guided Bible reflection and conversation. People from every background are welcome to attend.
Complete the Program and Earn a Certificate
Students receive assignments to practice outside of class. Those who complete the four-month program with at least 80% attendance, active participation and required homework may receive a Certificate of Completion from The Lingo Project.
The Lingo Project provides noncredit community language classes. Its certificate is not a state license, diploma or college credential.

How to Join an English Class
1. Complete the registration form
Tell us about yourself and your English-learning goals.
2. Complete your placement assessment
The English placement assessment is optional, please contact us and let us know you would like to take the test.
3. Receive your class and payment information
After registering, our team will send you the details regarding your
location, schedule, and payment options.
4. Create your account and access digital materials
You must create an account on our website to access the program's digital materials. It is important to complete these activities during the course, as they are part of the requirements to receive your Certificate of Completion. Printed materials are optional and available for an additional cost; however, they do not replace the required digital activities.

5. Start learning
Attend classes, participate actively, complete digital assignments, and practice English regularly. To receive your certificate, you must complete the four-month program and meet the attendance, participation, and assignment requirements.

Who can enroll?
Our language classes are designed primarily for adults aged 18 and older.
​
Do I need to know English before enrolling? No.
We offer different levels, strive to always have bilingual volunteers available,
and will help you find the best starting point.
Do I need to speak Spanish? No.
We welcome students of all languages and nationalities.
Do I need to provide immigration documents? No.
We do not ask for immigration documents to participate in our community classes.
Do students receive homework? Yes.
Students receive practical activities to reinforce what they learn in class.
Can I receive a certificate? Yes.
Students who meet the attendance, participation, and homework requirements are eligible to receive a Certificate of Completion from The Lingo Project.
Are these faith-based classes? Yes.
The vision for this program comes from God and we honor Him, which is why each class concludes with a guided biblical reflection and a conversation about the Word of God.
Do these classes offer academic credits? No.
These are non-credit community classes and do not grant a college diploma
or government certification.
