The Lingo Project was founded by Lina Eckhart and her daughter, Melanie Muñoz, a mother-daughter duo with a deep passion for loving God and serving others.

They recognize the importance of empowering individuals through language learning, knowing that many adults in the U.S. miss the opportunity to connect with others and reach their goals due to language barriers.

Partnership with the Columbus Bilingual Academy

The idea for The Lingo Project emerged from the recognition that language is a key tool for both personal success and spiritual connection. After more than a year of prayer, fasting, and planning, Lina and Melanie were granted the opportunity to use the Columbus Bilingual Academy facilities after school hours to offer language classes to adults. This partnership, which began in 2021, was a clear answer to prayer—a chance to provide a place for individuals to learn, grow, and be introduced to the gospel.

Partnership with The Columbus Dream Center

In June 2023, The Lingo Project officially launched, marking the beginning of a movement in Columbus to reach those who desire to learn new languages but have yet to encounter the life-changing message of the gospel.

In January 2024, The Lingo Project was blessed to partner with  The Columbus Dream Center to launch our new after-school program, designed to provide childcare for parents attending our language classes. This partnership was a game-changer for many families, as it enables parents to focus on learning English while knowing their children are cared for in a safe environment.

Partnership with NewLife Church Whitehall

In September 2024, The Lingo Project announced a new partnership with NewLife Churchwhich will allow us to expand our classes to additional locations. This partnership is a strategic move to serve even more members of the community.

Partnership with Cypress Espanol

In October 2024, The Lingo Project had the incredible privilege of hosting its first Night of Worship in Spanish. This special event was made possible thanks to the partnership with Cypress Espanol and their leadership, as well as Pastor Julio who shared the word of God with our adult students and their families.

TODAY

2025 mission trip

As The Lingo Project continues to grow Lina Eckhart and Melanie Muñoz have felt a strong calling in their hearts to expand their outreach even further and go on a mission trip with Rock City Church.

Both mother and daughter have always been driven by their passion for loving God and serving people, and now, they feel led to take that mission on the road—by going on a mission trip and inviting everyone to join Lingo Project volunteers in this journey.
